This has been a horrible week for me and my car :dead: First, I have to get my tint taken off, and now it seems as though I have a small crack on my new header. If it is a crack, and I'm pretty sure it is, what should I do??? I don't really have the cash to buy another one, or anything at all for that matter, but I thought that if I took it off and had a small weld run across it, it might seal it up. It wouldn't look as good, but that's what the exhaust wrap would be for -- not to mention it's been freaking hot in my engine bay since I lost that heat shield aranoid: I'm pretty sure it's a crack because my exhaust is making that stupid raspy sound again, the same one it made before I installed the header when two of my stock runners were cracked. It's coming from the same area, but it's not anywhere as loud, however it IS there. It just started yesterday after I ran my AC for the first time since I installed it. Ugh, what a headache!!! Any ideas?

1. you say it is new. How new? Maybe it is defective, call the retaileryou purchased it from and find out if you can exchange it for a good one. I doubt most parts come with warranties, but if you put it past the retailer in a calm rational matter that you would like to buisness with them at a later date, but can't because you need a retailer who is fair, do something, make them feel bad.
2. It seems (and this is just my amateur opinion here, i'm no mechanic) that you are on your second cracked header/stock manifold. I would guess that as things heat up in the header, the metal becomes more susceptible to damage, as the metal is softer when heater. Now, mix that with your (no doubt) louder, aftermarket exhaust, you might be making too much vibration with it. Get what I mean? Those mufflers tend to be more "violent" purely because of the increased airflow. It may not be hung properly with the proper dampners to absorb the vibration, if it is wiggling around under your car, and that vibration is coming up to you nice, solid header, the vibration just may have now.
SSAutochrome...I bought it used for around 125 or something. :ermm: I'm satisfied with it, the gains are noticeable, I just wish it hadn't cracked. About that, though -- I'm really not sure if it's a crack or not. I put a little bit of liquid on it when I started it up, see if it would bubble or something to show there was a flow of exhaust going through it or not, but I'm not sure. Could be a scratch, a DEEP scratch, but it might be...The noise was coming from under the car, not the header. Turns out that the guys who put the rest of the exhaust on only torqued down one of the bolts holding the exhaust on to the header. :??: I tightened it with my trusty ratchet and the noise went away, actually sounds a lot better, heh heh. Now what to do about the possible crack...how to find out if it IS one...hmmm
