Default GO TIBBY GO

I HAVE GOT A PROBLEM GETTING MY 1998 TIBB FX TO START MOVING I CAN ONLY START GOING IF I HAVE THE PEDAL HALF WAY DOWN, IF I MASH THE ACCELERATOR MY CAR HESSITATES AND SOME TIMES IT DIES. I THINK IT MAY BE THE FUEL FILTER?

TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK!!!! OTHERWISE PEOPLE THINK YOU'RE YELLING AT THEM!!!!!

*lol*

It could be the fuel filter; a fuel pump that's starting to go bad might cause that too.
Is the Check Engine Light on? If so, then that's a clue.

I'd change the fuel filter, especially if it's been a long time (say 50,000 miles or more) since the last time it was changed. See if that helps. If it doesn't help, and the fuel pump checks out okay, then it might be an idea to look at some of the engine management components: the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF), the Intake Air Temp sensor (IAT) etc. and maybe have the OBDII system scanned to see if there any trouble codes lurking in the ECU, even if the Check Engine Light isn't lit.

But that's getting ahead of ourselves. The fuel filter is by far the easiest and cheapest thing to replace, so I'd start there if you think it's overdue.

Hopefully some other members will have some ideas too.

if that doesnt help, it could also be your tps sensor. but if changing the filter doesnt fix it, take the car to autozone and have them read the code for free.

For changing the fuel filter, give those bolts a wicked soaking with Liquid Wrench or something like that before you try to loosen them. Ideally, spray them several times over the course of a couple of days before you replace it. They can be a real bitch to loosen and you have to be careful not to snap the fuel line, although if you do, it's easy enough to replace.

If it's in the same place as it is on my Accent, then it's on the fire wall, near the middle... sort of behind and below the intake manifold. It's a cylindrical looking thing with fuel lines bolted to the top and bottom.

Disconnect your negative battery terminal for about 20-30 seconds. Reconnect and see if the light comes back on.

You should have disconnected it in the first place.
