95 Elantra 1.6L

My car runs at a high idle. I can't tell what RPM (no tachometer).

The car smokes, I think it is carbon buildup, because the car sat almost a year before I got it. I changed the spark plugs, oil and cleaned the throttle body. The spark plugs had carbon built up on it. Could this be the problem?

Will I have to replace my catalytic convertor and O2 sensor?
What is the best kind of decarbonization out there?


Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: The car uses excessive amounts of gasoline. Nearly a full tank of gas, and only 115 miles from it.

I found the problem. The MAF sensor kicked the bucket.
