I've been away for a year so i left my car with my friend who i aboslutley trust. And they took care of it the best they knew how, but i guess the problem is that nobody can take care of your car like you do.
Anyway so now i noticed that its been a little used. I have already washed and waxed the car so its looking good again on the outside. But under the hood there are now these small white dots all over, i dont know what it is, it goes away if i rub hard. What is that? and why did it get there? it was never like that when i had the car.
Also the front right wheel is making a squeeking sound sometimes when i drive. I thought it was something wrong with the tire pressure (there was) but now i but the pressure back to 30(120) but its still making the sound.
Are there any other things I should check? I don't want my car to age.
Thanks
/Tommy

Squealing sound things to check for:
Stuck caliper on the brakes.
Wheel bareing going bad.
suspension going strange.
CV or other part of the driveline.
Could be the wheel bearings. When a brake place stuck new rotors on, they messed mine up. was squeeling when lightly brakeing, when moving slow, and at random points. More drag than normal too.
I hear the squeeking sound when im driving at slower speeds, it's not very loud so it could be doing that when im driving faster but i cant hear it then. After a year of not driving it the first thing i noticed is how loud it is inside the "cockpit".
Anyway so if it is a stuck caliper how would i go about repairing that? Or if its a wheelbearing? The noise is comming from the front right wheel, it doesnt sound like its the suspension that could be making this noise, my prime suspect are the calipers now. I painted them last year, that might have caused a problem? has anyone heard of that being a problem before?

Also i found some rust. i dont know the name for it but you know the black rubber things that run around where the hood sits, they go around the hood of the car over the headlights.
I was trying to sell my car last year, and one of the guys that looked at it the first thing he did was pop the hood and look under those black rubber things and found rust. He said it was a common problem with the tiburon. Now i rubbed all the rust off, what should i use to prevent it and other places on the car from rusting again?

Rust is like cancer. One is starts it spreads, and is very hard (or expensive) to remove.
The whistling could be your caliper or pad. Does it stop normally? Is there any extra vibration? When you're slowing down from highway speeds, is there a very noticeable vibration?

The white dots are aluminum oxidation probably. Get aluminum cleaner (industrial) and squirt that on there per instructions. Then pressure wash it off and you'll be as good as new.
Do you have some reason to suspect that it's not your brake pads making the noise? That would be the most common reason for a mettalic squeal from a front wheel. You should be able to go to most brake places and at least have them find out what the problem is for free.
