So my accent; the plates run out on the 22nd of September; so I am going to need to get it safety inspected.
I take it to the dealer; and pay them 80$ or whatever. Now here is the doosey
Right Front & Rear Shocks Leak (Need Replacing)... $300
Right Front 'Top Shock' (whatever that is) $150
Oil Pan Cracked (Probably from the idiots who put on the oil plug with a impact gun!) $300
Front Pipe Exhaust Leak (Flex pipe... Again!!)
Rear Spoiler Light out... Can not remove... told me it would be better for me to buy a used trunk!! Oh.. the guy says he can't get his screwdriver in... so he wanted to take off the spoiler... spoiled rusted on... etc.
Get this...
The recommended that I buy a used engine, because my engine should be overhauled (burns oil... etc...)
So I am going to do the Beta Swap... but I still need to fix all these things.
Question... How many of these thigns are easy to fix by myself. I already got the oil pan done... I know when you don't have the spoiler you have a 3rd brake like on the window, is it possible for me to buy that and hook it up instead of the spoiler?
Shocks are a b!tch, but Skierd has a good write-up in the Suspension topic.
Kind of weird that you have to remove the whole spoiler just to replace the bulb? Most safety inspections (like NY, CT) require that all equipment is functioning properly. So even if you add the rear window light, you'll probably get dinged for it, if not, they usually take a harder look at the car. I would just see what you can do about removing the spoiler.
I temporarily fixed my flex pipe for about 2 weeks, not sure if they go under the car in Brampton though.
You probably have the LED style brake light. I can be removed from the spoiler but I don't know if it can be fixed. How many LED's are out if it's only one or two it shouldn't be a problem as long as it puts out the legal requirement of light. I would suggest getting a second opinion on that one.
sorry I know it sucks but I have to laugh at that becasue of a $2 bulb they told you to replace the whole trunk, after painting that is like 3K depending who does it. Are the screws striped out or something, I would say drill them out, there has to be another way then replacing the whole thing. I would look into another place to take your car other than that dealer.

I feel for ya. There comes a point where it's just not worth it to dump that much into the car when the repairs now cost more than the car. If you can't do the work yourself, your at the mercy of the dealer/shade tree mechanic you bring your car to. As for the rear spoiler light, having to remove the spoiler to change the bulb is untrure. If you saw a tech put your oil plug in with a impact gun, you should have brought that up immediately when you saw it. If your still unsatisfied with the shop who did the inspection, take it somewhere else. Sound's to me like you could be getting put through the ringer.
OMG!! someone put your drain plug on with an impact? :??:
