Default Anyone have an HOW TO on changing X3 clutch?

hey boys, I am pretty sure it is my clutch that is making the grinding noise! So, I think being that it is all origonal I am going to attempt a full change myself. I know it is an advanced job but I think my buddy (who is great with his integra) can help me through it! So my question is, has anyone done this (specifically on the X3) and if so, was it worth the savings of the labour at the shop to do it? If anyone has an HOW TO I would really appriciate it!

thanks,

TJ

Extremely easy job to do! I don't have a "How to" written up, but there is not much to it. You will be removing from the bottom of the car, obviously. You will need to support the engine because when you remove the tranny, the only mount left is the passenger side of the engine. Leave the tranny connected to the front and rear mounts on the support bracket and remove the support bracket and tranny as one unit. Trust me, it looks like a lot of work but it really isn't. If you have any questions during the process, let me know. I have a lot of experience with this little car!!

look for the auto to manual swap on the pony. It's the same procedure, except easier (manual to manual)

Oh and there's no drveshaft... just CV shafts (suckers)

Ive got a walk thru on an elantra. It shouldn't be that far off. Two big diffs are the throw out bearing (yours is push and mines pull) and you have a cross member to deal with, I didn't.

right now im working on making it better. :ermm: Maybe that will help some.

My question to you is where the hell do I start? I bought the clutch kit from NAPA today and it was only 150 bucks! So, I know I have to brace the engine and the tranny, is it as easy as removing the oil from the tranny and seperating the tranny from the engine? IS the throwout bearing and the plate in the same area as each other?

Did you click on my link?

Its not super easy and its not super hard. The only "hard" part about it is the amount of stuff that has to come off to get to the clutch.

Read Wychdctr's right-up. Almost all of the things he did, you need to do. I'm sorry if I made is seem too easy, but it is not as hard as you might think. Our cars have so much room to work with compared to other vehicles I have worked on. If you want, I can do a quick right-up after work today. I can take pictures of the engine compartment and the wheel wells and highlight things that need to be done.

I have read Wytch's write up and it was excellent! If you are in a giving mood and have a few moments to put something like that together for me I would be REALLY greatful! If not, I might be able to fumble through. Thanks in advance for any help with this boys, I really appriciate it all so far!
