Default '01 Elantra Power Steering Belt Slip Problem

Hi All,
I'm a noob here, but I did try and search for the info first to no prevail. My girlfriend just got an 01 Elantra with 120k on it and we just changed all the belts. All OEM products were used. The power steering belt had slipped before the belt change, and now it's worse. I can feel the power steering pump pulse when the wheel is cut while moving at idle speed. I went all out to tension the belt, using a pry bar on the pump and tightening it. I had her cut the wheel while I looked at what was going on, and the pump pulley comes to a stop when it screeches. Are there common pump issues with the Elantra? Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks,
Ryan

Thanks. I think I may grab one off Ebay. Fluid looked like 5000 mile old oil when i replaced it this weekend.

The pump will stop moving once it has some resistance of fluid flowing through it. Maybe the belt is too big.

Belt is straight from the dealer. Works fine until you get turn all the way to one side or the other. Pump acquired from Ebay, will be installing this weekend. Will post results.

Default any result on this problem??

I know this was posted some time back, but any solution to this problem because I am having the same problem?? I have just replaced the other 2 belts (serpentine) and I believe they may be a bit loose..could this be causing the power steering pump to be slipping/stopping when turning wheel while at idle? The garage says my pump is going??
