Oil on upper part spark plugs problem.

Now top of the spark plugs have oil in them when I did my inspection.
Now here is where it gets hairy, the plug wires are dry as a bone. Which leades me to believe it is not valve cover gasket spark plug oil seals. The upper walls of the spark plug tunnels are dr as well. The bottom of the white insulation on the spark plug is brown from hot oil. My question is is there there another seal that is at the lower part of the head for the spark plugs? Maybe some of the oil blow by from the rings is leaking through the threads on the spark plugs?





Compression test goes like this
150 155 153 153 psi @ wot on a faulty guage (old as dirt) Good enough seem equal on this old guage

THat's not... great compression, (pony has mid 140's) but it is surely enough to keep oil out. If you suspect blowby, check your recirculator hose (I believe you call it a PCV) for excessive oil in it.

Well the last oil I used was synthetic.
I did have a brand new compression tester somewhere but I couldn't find it so i used the old one. The compression should be in the 210 range. I will assume until a better check that compression is goodrather than all the rings being blown or massive head gasket failure. I just changed the plugs and will watch them for a week to see if they accumulate oil.

Well, if its the rings giving you blow-by the oil would turn up at the lower part of the plug. On the upper part, check the plug well. The seals up there to the rocker cover might be giving way. If there's oil or residue in there you might have your issue.
