Ongoing problem, 2x to dealer, need HELP!!(hyundai techs??)
Ok, I have an 02 Elantra GT. It currently has 82000 miles.
Ever since it has had about 500 miles, there has been a rattle from the rear driver's side.
I brought it to the dealer 4 years ago, and they changed the right rear strut and endlink. Duh. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot I hear the rattle. I was soooo mad that it took me 4 years to bring it back.
I brought it back last Thursday because of other problems (mostly wheel bearings and wanted to get the timing belt changed) and figured I'd give it another shot. My car was on their lift for 5 business days waiting for a left rear strut. They change that (part 55351-2d100) and the insulator(part 55310-2d000). I was sooo happy. Of course it was snowing so bad, I pick it up Wednesday, snow all over the roads.
I run over some hard snow, and it makes the same sound. I consider buying a handgun, lol.
But, then it makes another sound at a full stop yesterday. In the same area, like someone's knocking on my rear fender, a very similar sound. So here's my question:
Is there some kind of "emissions crap" like an evap canister in the left rear corner of the car? Something that can fail and rattle????
I've tried taking out the spare tire, the rear seats, everything.
The sound is definately coming from the outside of the car, because in parking garages it makes the sound over expansion joints and echoes really loud, and usually gets stares from people.
Anybody??
Edit: My car was built on November 23, 2001, which happens to be a Friday.
