Default please help!!!

ok first off i drive a 96 accent 1.5 sohc 5 speed.ok heres the problem at low rpms more often when i shift and im moderatly accelerating it will fall on its face and pop through the exhaust for a few seconds and come out of it. Theres no check engine light at all. Also while driving the exhaust smells horrible not rotten egg horrible almost a rich fuel mixture smell burning. About a week ago a mechanic looked at it and noticed that the fuel pressure regulator was leaking and the vacuum line was sucking raw fuel into the intake manifold. so ninety dollars later a new regulator was installed. My car ran alot better but still had a small dead spot while accelerating and it still has that bad exhaust smell. Now after a week of driving it is back to doing the same s***. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like maybe one or more spark plugs could be fouled. Is it harder to start?

i thought that at first and i replaced plugs and wires looked decent. its starts pretty easy. its just pretty irratating when your driving and you get wierd looks from people because i have an aftermarket exhaust so its louder when it pops.

What kind of intake do you have? Is it an aftermarket or stock?

Two questions. 1. Is the filter clean? 2. What did the plugs looks like when you took them out? (i.e. color, where there cracks in the center, etc.)

Black plugs mean the engine is running too rich. It sounds to me like there is a lot of air coming out of the engine, but not enough coming in; causing the popping. Check all you vaccum lines for leaks and plugs and check the intake for blockage. Does this happen all the time?
