Default Sound and heat absorbtion

I want to put some matting on the underside of my hood to soak up some of the unwanted engine noise and heat that it gives off. What would be the best material to use? I would perfer something black, so dynamat is out. (unless they make black dynamat, I don't know anything about it)

just search around for underhood insulation, or possibly fire blanket. i know dynomat offers an underhood heat insulator, but there the only ones i know off hand. but theres probably quite a few others...

try this
Elemental Designs

i covered my hood with it and it killed almost 40% of the noise.

stand's well against heat and water very nicely..unlike dynamat..

the adhesive backing is strong but also easy to remove and reapply.

Awesome, thanks. I think that may be what I use.

Has it shown any signs of burning or melting from the heat of the engine? The Tib is a flamethrower because of the exposed headers. I just don't want it to break down and melt onto the new hood.
