well you can generally get it pretty good with a string alignment (just google it I'm not gonna explain it) and to adjust you just loosten the tie rods and simply screw them in/out. you can check camber pretty well by putting a carpenters square (the L shaped ones) against the rim and measuring t the ground on the inside and outside of the square's leg. but honestly if you hit a pothole big enough to pop a tire and throw your alignment off, you probably need a new control arm so check that as well...

Default Alignment

Trying to do a wheel alignment yourself might save a few $$$$$ in the short term but will probably cost you a lot more in the long run. An accident like you describe can cause a lot of damage to your suspension geometry. Here's a simple article on wheel alignment that might be of interest.

After the hit you describe and the immediate issues afterwards, I would bet that the suspension is suffering at least 2 or more bent components that will require replacement and a subsequent alignment.

Check the distance of a fixed point (ie bolt or nut or manufactured hole) in the affected corner and measure in comparison to the opposite side of the vehicle. If there is an outage, there is a problem. A simple check is looking and the distance of the tire in comparison to the wheel well or mud flap. If different (damaged side) it will likely be closer on the one side.
