Default Alternator Issue

When I was driving my car on the highway, my gauges all droped to zero, but the engine seem to still be running. I pulled up and shut off the engine and was not able to restart it again. I did notice that my alternator wire was burnt by the header and melted the wire. Will this have caused my gauges to drop? I was not able to start the car again and I know that there is power from the battery because the lights still works and radio still works. Will a disconnected alternator cause the car not to be able to start even when the battery still have juice???

Sounds like you blew a fuseable link. Check the fuse box in the engine bay. I had a similar problem when my rear O2 harness melted and grounded to my exhaust, that was fun to trouble shoot and trace wires for the short. good luck!
