Default 04 Santa Fe Bogging

Ok.. details

Just replaced 60k timing belt last wednesday, so not even a week.

prob w/ vibration afterwords, but minor, Probably noise caused by pipe connector between manifold and cat.

Then.. today... sob lost power, and then quit on me. Would start, run for few seconds, and quit again . Just plain dead

So.. went to shop that did timing belt. Error code said misfire on #1

water in plug, cleaned out the water, started it up, and it fired fine. Idled ok, but bogged down when we hit the gas in the parkin lot. Checked codes, nothing. So... what the heck is causing me to bog down? Air filter is clean, adn makes no diff if we take it out. Plugs are ok, wires ok, no more misfire, just NO power at all when you hit the gas, instead it almost quits.

HELP!! asap.

Default nope

didn't check fuel filter... something to mention of course!!!

Did find codes for

crankshaft position sensor

rpm sensor

and the timing belt was loose and looked to have jumped two teeth.

this is after all the above.

so... tensioner has been ordered, and I gotta pay for that... GDMF*&@%$()@!..... anywho I'll calm down

And... they say the sensors could have been damaged by the belt skipping teeth, but maybe not, and they will replace them if they were visibly damaged. So.. what's that mean? if they were invisibly damaged.. I gotta pay for em???? whatever.. I'm so sick of this dang car.

I really doubt those sensors could be damaged by a slipped timing belt... probably just messed up readings once the belt slipped. this shop sounds shady. get the belt set back on right, clear the codes and you should be fine. unless they damaged the tensioner removing it somehow its very odd that it went bad that quick. I've never actually heard of a hyundai tensioner going bad especially skeptical being so new... I wouldn't bring my car to that shop again.

I had the crank sensor go on me last summer in my 04 as well, same symptoms you are describing. Also one of the valves was stuck open. it's still under warranty, take it in and get them to replace it.

without a crank signal, you won't even get a spark and the car will never run (unless its wiring and a very intermittant problem.) your loss of power was surely due to the stuck valve issue.
