how do you know it's running rich?

CAI may cure it.

They may have installed an O2 sensor wrong or damaged it--if the first one is reading a false lean then it could cause this. What are the specific symptoms?

It starts ruff, It has a slight problem accelerating (it hesitates)...and the spark plugs has carbon deposits. I checked the ignition sysem, it's fine. So it might be the o2 is bad? can a CAI help?

no. if the O2 is bad, a CAI won't help. I was referring to trying to cure the prob with more air, but in this case, that's a nogo.

take it to the dealer and pay the $15 for the diagnostic to see the real prob(or your fav. garage if it's out of warranty).

Where are the O2 sensors placed BTW? The first should be after somewhere the merge point of the collector but before the car, not in one of the individual tubes. The second should be as close as possible after the cat. The sensors are a bit fragile too, but something as simple as a loose connection/bad wiring could be to blame for a bad signal.

Did you replace or clean the plugs? Check the gap? Check the plug wires?

I didn't replace the plugs to long ago(9,000 miles)...and the wires are fine and so is the gap.....The First o2 sensor is about 1/2 ft. before the cat (o2 is not on the hearders) and the Second is about 2 inches behind it.... Thanx
