Yup. The car doesn't want to turn over. Its not the battery so I'm thinking starter motor or alternator? The plugs and wires and ignition coils were changed not so long ago.
Two nights ago the car took a little longer to start up. The next morning all the car sounded like was "whrring whrrring click".
It would start with a battery boost so we tried to charge the battery. The car still doesn't start. I drove it for like 2 min after we got it started with a boost, no check engine light or anything. The power seemed fine and all the radio stations and the clock were not reset so its not the battery.
Sounds like your starter. BUT, If your car is automatic, circulate up and down the gears from P to 1, then try starting the car. Sometimes, Park doesn't lock in place, and that will cause the car not to start. That can sometimes happen. If it still doesn't turn over, Im pretty sure its your starter. Sometimes they will click, which is a sign of the starter needing replacement. If it does crank, and doesn't start, then thats probably your fuel pump.

The alternator does nothing until the car is started. I had a problem with a starter on my Pony. It drew too much amps, eventually damaging the starter cable. It's most likely the starter solenoid. When you boost it, you give it more available power (that it uses) and temporarily alleviates the problem.
bench test your starter. Until then, roll start it.

it still could be the battery. it may not hold a chanrge. or it may not accept a charge. if you have an aftermarket battery try and fill it with distilled (not tap) water. if that doesn't work have a load test done on it by any auto shop. or do the easiest thing. get it started and take it to auto zone or advanced auto and they wiil check the car out for free.:ermm:
Well it looks like it was the battery.
Replaced it and it seems to run okay.
Still sounds a little weak when it starts up.
We'll see, cause the old battery (original) did get drained a few times.
So I guess after 5 years it does need replacing.
