New Dyno #'s *Updated 9/29/08*

Got a new dyno done today. Didn't do the A/F ratio because I have no way to adjust it right now. This is with an AEM CAI, 62mm TB, MSD ignition, 4-2-1 header, high-flow cat and cat-back. This was done as a "baseline". I have a P&P head and a set of Cat Cams waiting to go in. I also just ordered an S-AFC2 and am getting some 11:1 pistons. I'll also be porting the IM and matching it to my TB. After that stuff is in, I'll be getting a clutch, flywheel and Kaaz LSD. I'm trying to break 200WHP N/A, then add a 50-shot on top of that. Here's where I'm at now:

Ignore run #1. The dyno operator said he screwed something up on that run. BTW, this is supposed to be the most accurate dyno west of the Mississippi. This was done on a Dynojet dyno located at Dynojet's R&D facility.

EDIT: I forgot, I also have an underdrive crank pulley.

You want to break the 200 Whp N/A? You'll have a true beast!

That dyno is more reason I am still not convinced the header gives any gain on a Beta. I have a 2002 Elantra and here are my mods when I dynoed last: 58mm BBTB, BIM, stock manifold with integral cat, Kore catback, and a custom CAI made with flex hose.

I had 130.4 whp and 133.2 torque. Here is the printout.

My run was also on a brand new dynojet 248 machine at Bristoldyno.com You can actually see a video of the run on that site.

think of that 128 as about 140whp with a/f tuning. and this is wheel hp.

aaron are you shooting for 200 at the crank or wheels?? or just shooting for all the engine build you can do, to get near 200 then spray???

reminiscing of my LC...

Re: New Dyno #'s *Updated 1/5/05*

Yep, going for 200Whp n/a. I currently have no fuel tuning, which is hurting me. See that big dip in the midrange? I think I'm leaning out right there. Also, I have an OBX 4-2-1 header, which I'll be replacing with a 4-1 header soon. Not only is the 4-2-1 design hurting me, but the primaries are tiny. The HVE 4-1 header on my brother's '96 Elantra has much bigger primaries. Also, I have a 2.5" crush-bent cat-back. It squeezes down to 1.75" in the bend that goes over the rear suspension. Once I get the header replaced and a mandrel-bent cat-back done, as well as the fuel tuning done, I'm hoping to hit 140-150Whp. I'm being very optimistic about the head, cams, pistons, and BIM. I don't think they'll get me another 50Whp, but I can dream. BTW, I mis-spoke earlier about the Kaaz. That's going in my turbo tranny. I got a Phantom Grip for this tranny. At 200Whp, I don't think I'll have a problem with the PG insert.

EDIT: I forgot, I also have an underdrive crank pulley.

Re: New Dyno #'s *Updated 1/5/05*

Well I doubt the exhaust is the problem. I actually ran my silencer on one dyno run. The hole was only 1-3/8" and the car only lost 2whp and 2 ft/lb torque. I have actually removed my Kore midpipe and put the stock midpipe back on with the silencer and have felt no loss in power. It seems the biggest problem with the headers is the huge loss of torque. I love torque so the stock manifold stays on mine. I like having power in the whole rpm range instead of just over 5000rpm.

I am really interseted in seeing how the cat cams and fuel metering work out for you though. That was my only hope of reaching 150whp. Hopefully you will as well.

Re: New Dyno #'s *Updated 1/5/05*

Well, I had a KORE on the car, but took it off because it was a little too "pissed off bee" sounding for me. I felt a power loss with the new exhaust on it. But, it's much quieter and lower pitched now. I know the cat-back is hurting me because I drove the car with the KORE to the shop and drove home with the new cat-back. I'd guess I lost about 5-6 whp in the mid-range.

I'd like to see what kind of gains you get with the cams...
