Default RWD Tranny options?

Long story short, I'd like to put a 2001 2.0 Beta in a MG Midget and need to know if there is a RWD 5 speed from ANY manufacturer that'll bolt up to it. Alot of people have done the 4AGE swap into those but I like (and have) a couple of extra Betas laying around and would rather use one of those.

Anyone know FOR SURE ???

I can't recall anyone asking this question ever, you may be the first.

The Alpha. And AFAIK that's it.

You'll probably have to make a bellhousing adapter.

Alfa is the same as Mitsu, right?

It's similar to the 4G15. I don't know how similar the bellhousing bolt pattern is though. It could be identical, it could be way off. No idea.

It is definitely not the same thing as any Mitsu engine.

Crap !!!

It appears to be VERY similar to the 4g63 just w/ the starter on the other side. I have a Beta backing plate next to me and googled some 4g63 bellhousing images and man they look close. No way to measure from a pic, but if you say it's not the same then I guess someone has tried before. Oh well. Thanks

No I'm not sure that it won't work. I just know the engines themselves are not exactly the same design. No idea about the bellhousing bolt pattern though. I assume somebody tried a 4G63 trans at some point but I don't know if the starter location was the only issue.
