So that elantra intake with the filter in front of the foglight... how much water is he sucking in? Is it a huge problem since his intake pipe is nearly vertical at one point? I have a "Jon's Modified Random CAI special" and i know for another $20 i could extend it to look like that...

talking about his here: http://nitrousworld.pcrepairworld.com/2003elantra/intake/intakeupdate/images/intakefix%20003.jpg

disconnect the negative side FIRST!... now disconnect the positive side SECOND!.., let the car sit for about 15min like said before and reverse order it Connect Positive side then the negative.. when you start the car up your most likely gonna get ruff idle that will be first sign cause computer is in regular learning process time to get all the new variables back.

I relo'd my battery to the trunk to make room for an intake. The install isn't bad, but you do lose trunk space. I finally found a smaller battery box, which minimizes the effect, but forget about hauling chairs and bookcases in the hatchback.

The weight distribution improved a lot. Some of the sluggishness in the rear-end disappeared.

The real benefit, though, was more room to play with intake designs. I have a Rev A (early 1997 model) with the evap cannister blocking the good CAI locations

I plan on building a box on that "shelf" in the engine bay to house the filter and draw only cold air from the fender and behind the headlamp.

As for tapered designs, didn't Red or Random play around with one of those about a year back? I remember it looked funny but supposedly had good surge/shifting response.

Disconnect neg then pos to avoid spark, clean all that dust out of the engine compartement ( I know it's there)for @ 15 min, reconnect power cables in reverse of removal, then turn the key on without starting press the gas pedal to the floor let off this tells your computer where fully open throttle is, turn key off now start you car <A Tibby Hopefully> and have a little fun getting the hand of a controlled drift a little tricky
with Touque Steer. :chinese: Have fun Round EYE or if your like me :smoking:

I got a ram air hood. Now would it be a bad idea to connect my filter straight to the MAF. I would think it would be great for all the fresh cooler air flow to go straight into the TB without getting heated by the pipes first. But on the other hand Iwould think rain would get sucked in also.........any thoughts out there?:smoking:

I have a short ram and I think it's great. The 2hp I am loosing because of heat (vs cai), it's ok with me since I have the peace of mind that no water is getting into my intake.

Ya, normaly I'd agree but I have a "ram air hood" so I'd think that when it rains it would get suck right in on top of the engine bay witch for the engine would be good but the filter is almost right behind the ducts so again I think the rain might get forced into the filter. :hmmm:
