I don't know how you guys have the patience. Also, that whole reversing the cable thing is F***ing CRAZY! What has always worked for me is disconect ground cable and hit the break pedal 3 times. No waiting, just reconnect.

uh, no. "cold air" only because the location within the engine bay where the air is brought in is in a cooler area than the standard intake's location.

They're not talking about reversing the cables (+ on - and - on +), just the order in which you re-attach them. Connect the positive fist then the negative. If you actually put the cables on backwards then you won't have to worry about resetting the ECU because you're going to have to buy a new one! :

Ya, normaly I'd agree but I have a "ram air hood" so I'd think that when it rains it would get suck right in on top of the engine bay witch for the engine would be good but the filter is almost right behind the ducts so again I think the rain might get forced into the filter. :hmmm:

Why would you worry about water, just get a bypass valve, and i don't know about you but my tib has the splash guards down there anyway so it's not going to suck in any water as it is.

People you have to remember that anything that flows a fluid or air has a tuned resonance. That is determined by flow, length and diameter. The best over all benefit is just to provide the engine with cool clean filtered air.

So in conclusion, if you want to only take 10 minute drives around town with your hood open, then get a short ram intake but if you are like the majority of the people in this world, and you drive with your hood shut then you are better off with a CAI.
[/body]
Isn't that what the clear hoods are for ?????????

If you build your CAI right, there shouldn't be any water worries. Besides, the filter can get damp with no issues, just not submerged.

As for resetting ecu, if I don't want to wait I just pull the ecu fuse. The Accent should at least be similar to my car, don't know if that'll work on the rest.

Ok I see a lot of talk about WATER. you WILL NOT get water in your engine with a CAI unless you decide to take your car out for a swim. It's all a mater of where you place your filter too. Those who make a custom CAI are able to direct thier CAI wherever they want. Now....this is what i did. I placed a scoop on my hood (made a hole first) and I have a short ram. Now where i have it placed is directly above the engine directing air toward the Intake manifold. It's not profesionaly done but it works. It adds cooler air into the engine bay and well....ummm yeah, semi cold air.

ill stick with moding the stock filter intake, and getting a performance panel filter...k&n. later on down the track i might get some fin vent scoops for the bonnet to get some cooler air roaming around in there... remember... hot air rises... therefor adding a vent scoop will push the cool air down and the hot air up... hopefully anyway
