Default Engin/car Vibrations -UPDATE fixed!

Here's my problem. My Under-strut bar was ratteling aginst my header, after installing my SR 401 header it was worse. I've pertty much have it under controll by putting wedgeing it. It much better now.

BUT, I've noticed that abound 3000 RPM's (2800-3200) I notice my car/engine vibrates. I can feel it,slightly hear it and my side and rear view mirrors vibrate to the extent that the view is greatly blured.

Why is this? What can I do? Should I be worred? Could this have something to do with running too rich/lean?

It's very much a pain. I try to avoid drivein in the RPM range, but not always possible.

It might be due to the fact that the UR pulley does not have a harmonic dampener.
I too have the UR pulley but my engine doesnt do that at all, in fact it's smooth as butter.'
But with your setup it might be the UR pulley, might, dont take my word for it, I would ask this question on HA instead, theyll prolly be able to help u better.

my car was doing that to and i took it to the dealer and got it fixed they said i had a fouled sparkplug and they put new ones in it and it quit doing it they said the reason it fouled was because i was getting too much air in to my engine which maid it run too rich

Hummm.... my plugs are onlt a few months old. I did just put on the headers and and exhaust. Not to mention that I have yet to put on my O2 sensor. I'll try to get that done and check my plugs in the next few days. Also should be getting my S-AFC installed in this time too. Maybe this will help.

no O2 sensor...there is a real good chance your car is running super rich, Kustomaccent had that problem and it ripped apart his muffler from back firing if i remember right

I think this was discussed a while ago on the old tsr board....could it simply be harmonics fuvking with us? For alot of people it rattles so hard (for me its at 3000-3100) that the rear view mirror used to rattle. Pissed me off hard because 3k is where most of the driving in a tibby is done (at least for me). If someone finds a set solution feel free to let me know!

You too huh???...

I checked today and for me at actually is between roughly 2750 to 2850 RPMs. at 2900 it fine. Aslo seem to happen slighlty at about 3200 rpm, just a little.

I'm hoping getting my os sensors running and the tunning the S-AFC will take car of it.

I hate hitting that dreaded "Bad RPM range".

Mine has had the vibration that shakes the rear view mirror around 3k rpm since day 1. I still had the same trouble even after the dealership replaced my Block at 12k due to a bad bearing in the engine. Then again when the cold moved in earlier this week I hit 7k rpm leaving work because my autotrajik would not shift. I think it finally knocked something loose in a good way since it used to shake the wheel like a rag doll when I stopped for traffic lights for any extended period. Read 30 sec or more. That has finally stopped hopefully it wil stay that way.

Well, when I put on my header the "clamp" that latched the pile to the car was not bolted back on. I used a couple of metal stapes and tighten it to the car, and low and behold it gone. car runs great now!

But now my exhaust seem to be louder, a copy of my frends herd it today and agree. Maybe cuz without the vibrations the exhaust flows out better. (?)

Zolomek, try this. If you need info feel free to email me.

me HAPPY NOW!
