Exhaust.. well pipe from engine and to the exhaust itself
Hello
i am wondering if i may clean.. (dont know english word for this thing.. but it is small circle keg on exhaustpipe.. it decrease pollution or that is what they say) if i can clean stuff inside or if i need to remove it and put straight pipe instead of it (i am wondering if co2 sensor is inside this keg)
car: hyundai Accent lsi ´96 1300cc (same as 1500cc just with 1300cc engine) 3-doors coupe.
i am so tight on my wallet.. i am thinking use orginal pipe and change that keg for small pipe that i am gonna melt on it (cost me few bucks but i check what 2" pipe would cost and with it bend and every thing it cost a lot) or clean inside that keg and still use it hehe. oh yeah how big is orginal exhaust pipe? 1,7" or smaller?

I think what you are talking about is the Catalytic Converter. Does it sort of look like a muffler but in the middle of the car Unfer the front seat area?
If so, thats what it is. You can remove this and run a straight pipe in in its place.
When you say clean, do you mean hollow it out? If so, yes you can also do this.
I don't know what the laws are concerning catalytic converters in your country, but it is illegal in ours to remove or tamper with them. Not that it stops everyone but just be aware of the laws before you do this.

Re: Exhaust.. well pipe from engine and to the exhaust itself
yeah that is the thing i was talking about.
hmm cleaning (then i mean empty junk inside) , it is illegal at my contry = just cars ´94 and older may miss that stuff but cop dont pull drivers over like in USA , just i could get stop in yearly automobile check-up but some place let car go trough because they really dont care.
so is there any Co2 sensor in Catalytic Converter... well i could get muffler with co2 sensor , well any one know what that pipe would be big? (i dont want to crawl under my car and check.. i am too scare the jack leave me stuck under the car , i could check it maybe in my work (automobile bodyfix shop) but i dont want to feel the heat :smoking:

If I remember right, there is an o2 sensor before the catalytic, and one after. You can still hollow it it out but after wards, reset your ECU (just unplug the battery while you are doing the work, that will reset it).
To be honest, you will get very little gains from doing this if you are not using forced induction.

bitch suck it up!!!! its like -20 with wind chill here in NY today and i WISH i could get my car to freaking thaw out so i can work on it. tried to wash my car off this morning to fix my bumper cos i cracked it last night and the water froze on my car as i sprayed it on... and i have no heated garage to work in either!!!
so now i got a cracked bumper and a car covered with a 1/16" layer of ice. and i couldnt even duct tape it together or anything...

you will either gain .5 hp or lose hp at the crank by doing this and its bad for the earth and a kaka thing to do on newer cars.
don't do it, save up and do it right

well with reset ECU then it is better unplug then you come home and replug then you go to work (over night)
who says i was looking for power? well course i am.. just torqe hehe , i got hole on my Catalytic Converter and hole on backbox so i need to change but i am thinking about remove catalytic converter and melt pipe instead in place the converter is.
hehe sell you car if you care for the world.. american and europe is poison the air more then iceland so shut down your bloody factory and walk to ride to work/school hehe = well like a some scientist says.. we will be all dead before we have damage earth just our grandgrandgrand childen will be alive :surprised:

ummm.... cars these days do not pollute the earth at all basically, buses and trucks do alot more damage BUT we need them
i'm not saying i'm a tree huger but removing your cat is just plain stupid, will not do anything more than make more noise, smell and piss off more people

yeah if u gut teh cat your car will smell much similar to rotton egg farts :lol::lol:
u best already be married cos you wont be picking up chicks in that car.
GET SOME HEADERS AND A NEW CAT!!!! and if your 'backbox' is your muffler and you got a hole in it; if its not too bad weld it up for now and get headers/hi-flo cat. you will gain way more power (and torque : ) and have a deeper growl under accelerating. then save up for the catback or custom exhaust; or if you really wanna be loud just get a glasspack!!! i wouldnt though but being on a budget sucks...
