Default Big Bore Throttle Body

i was plannin to get a barney throttle body from shark racing for my 98 tib.. i kno its better to get my intake manifold bored to get most out of my BBTB, but i was juss wonderin if i didnt get my IM bored (yet) and put in a BBTB, would it still be worth while? i mean, it wouldnt affect the airflow goin through my intake in a negative way would it? i will eventually get the IM bored but i want to get the BBTB now ...
thoughts on this?

Most people say that it will do nothing. However when I did this for a few months I noticed an increase in throttle response.

It will definately do something, but remember, BBTB is just one part of you intake system. Of course if you add a CAI, bore out the intake manifold, it will definately help a lot more. Just like your exhaust system. Your muffler won't work to it's full potential unless you have the whole exhaust setup. ie: header, high-flow cat, cat-back exhaust.

So to simplify it, it will make a difference but not to it's full potential.

yeea i have a CAI, Header, Hi Flow Cat, and the rest of the cat back.. so i wanted to put in a BBTB.. so ur sayin it will increase my performance even tho i dont have my IM bored yet..
i kno once i bore my IM it will increase the performance of the throttle body..
but the question is.. it will still give me gains if i dont have my IM bored yet right?

The truth is if you get a BBTB and no bored IM you will be creating a bottle neck effect thus restricting airflow. I am not saying that you wont benifit from just the BBTB but your gains will be minimal compaired to a BBTB + IM setup. If you would like to go one step farther (as mentioned above) I do recomend honing your IM as well. You will see the most gains through this setup. I too am in the market for a BBTB + IM this is what I have found after months of research. Take what you will, leave what you will.

Imagine you have a straw, and your beverage of choice.

Make the middle 1/3 of the straw a larger diameter than the rest of the straw. Will you be able to drink any faster?

well in that instance the amount of air inside the straw at one time would be greater but the actual ammount of air going in to the engine would not be that much greater.

yeea so all of u are saying that i will still get gains.. juss minimal right?
cuz i will bore out my IM .. but not at the same time im installing the throttle body.. it'll be probably a month after.. so either way i will have the full set up of having the throttle body and bored IM..

and jusss one thing on honing and boring.. can u get an IM honed and bored? or should u juss get one or the other? i heard honing is better..
