Hey yesterday i c alled these guys from gude.com and aqskedthem if they had or make customs head packages and they said in bold capitalized letters we do make head packages for 2.0L tibs, now all you gotta do from wat they told me is send your heads, cams, and IM, and throttle body with 1,550 bucks and you get upgraded cams, ported/polished and oversized IM and throttle body; and ported/polished heads, and they have the heads milled to like some 0.030, to help the exhaust flow out on the exhaust side of the heads... they gave me some real detailed info about how they tune they head packages for every engine although on their front page says it most of get like 58 hp to the wheels but the ones for the tib said it only makes 40 hp to the wheel whch is just as good as having a 2600 turbo kit nad this probably not including headers, exhaust and crank pulley, and whatever else you may get... i just wanted to let yall know this for anybody who wants some info heres is their phone #(909)245-7577 and ask to talk to Bill... good luck their web site is www.gude.com
You are not getting 40hp from headwork, regring cams, a BIM and BTB on a tiburon. The BIM and BTB combo has netted ~6hp, headwork has showed gains of 5-10hp, and streetable cams a 5-10hp gain. Thats 26hp if you're EXTREMELY lucky, and forget about low end power.
A turbo still ownz with a +60whp gain and +80#ft of torque for $2600.

That's low numbers for just a head job...at least from my experience with domestics. A Turbo is alot of bang for your buck, and is great upgrade, but purchasing a new head (again speaking from a domestic angel) can provide between 60-120 HP out of the box.
New head(s) is a good mod, no matter which way you go.
However I may be wrong, and would like to see facts and figure to show me this. (I gotta learn somehow, being a import newby)

I would highly advise you to do a little research before dealing with Gude. We've had several very unhappy customers on Honda-Acura.net in terms of their service and turn around times.
Also, you should consider the amount of experience they have in the Hyundai area. They don't even list your cars on their main page and you are going to let them regrind your cams?
Hyundais are not domestic motors, nor are they the typical high strung import motor. The beta has made ~215whp n/a max, or so the word from Korea is. Why? The combustion chambers are designed for forced induction, among other things. The internal geometry of the motor also forces it to keep its redline below 7000rpm unless you're building a race only motor. You are NOT going to get 30whp from just headwork on this motor. Five or ten maybe, but no where near what Gude is claiming. I agree headwork is good, but its not the world changin mod on this motor.
I'll try to find the post on HA.com where Red posted his gains with a worked beta head over stock...

Skierd-> Thanks for explain that to me. Again, I'm trying to learn as much as possibly about not just hyundai's but all imports.
I was raised on a 'domestic only diet' (except for the 96 GLE Maxima we had as a family car when i was 13ish). I'm 18 now, and I came across my Altima for 500 bucks in perfect condition (with the exception of a clutch which was changed). Like everyone I know, you can't just drive a car, you gotta make it your own. Around this time my friend adiehl got his tib, and now we are both learnign by doing, and this forum is helping the two of us alot. I know it's not a Nissan board (i am a member of www.altimas.net), but it's a great board to learn at, and I'm thankful you are all helpful, dispite our differences in transportation lol.
Well enough of this sappy story...on wtih my next question:
Does Hyundair offer any performance aftermarket head for their tib?

Afraid not bro; you're gonna have to make your own. By that I mean:
1.Valves upsized and the valve angles recut to compensate for the increased flow volume to each cylinder.
2.Ports upsized and their chamfer reset to compensate for the increased port size and flow volume.
3.Valve guide change
4.Springs, retainers and locks changed to lower dynamic mass[less energy in (J) required to speed up or slow down the valvetrain]
5. Cams[nuff said:lol:]
6.Matching of the IM to the ports[if you can splurge on a surge tank it would be for the better but also shift the powerband higher into the rev range]
7.TB changed and IM matched to the dia.
8.Application of thermal coatings to varous strategic areas on the heads.
This is just a basic list of what you'll need to do in order to acheive best gains but if you decide to go turbo the processingwill have to be changed a little. Let us know what you decide bro, and all the best with your project!:rambo:

Just a little note...I do have my stock head from my 2.0 Tibby for sale if anyone is interested. This will save some down time if headwork is what your gonna do!! Email me at cysco00@aol.com with an offer if interested.
Yes, you definitely need to decide what you're going for before you make permanent changes to the engine.
I am by no means an expert on head tuning, but I have read and seen a decent bit on it. The same basic tricks used to build a small block head and an import head. Its all based on the motor and how its designed from the factory. You cant look at it as a part, but rather as part of a system that, when working together and integrated properly, will make the gains desired.

you might see upwards of 10HP from a head job (heheheh).. if..... they not only ported the head but also shaved it for higher compression. I myslef personally like the idea of forced induction as i have tried N/A mods already and all the mods i seem to do seem to have minimal results.
