I put a breather on my crankcase ventilation tube. I took it off of the intake and the breather fit right over the tube. I then capped the intake plug.

The point of this, when attached, is to recirculate hot gasses back into your intake for emmisions purposes.

By pluging it and putting a breather on your crankcase ventilation, you may gain .5 - 1 HP.

I can't tell the difference, but it looks pretty cool.

You will not notice any increases. but everything ads up after a while. >2hp gain is better then no gain!

I unplugged the linewhich goes from the engine to the IM and the one that goes from the engine to the intake. I hooked them both up to one breather. Of course you won't really feel the difference but yes it does help. It doesn't warm up the air going into you engine also. Thus making the air slightly cooler. Every bit counts....

Maybe I'm weird, but my car seems to run better with it plugged into the intake rather than a breather.

I thought that my car ran better with it on too.

Why do you think that is?

I guess it does'nt matter how cold the air is after the IAT(incoming air temperature) meter.

It does put oil vapors and shit in there though.

I don't really know.

I think it has to with venting the crankcase. With a breather, the positive crankcase pressure is vented out into the atmosphere (14.7psi at sea level). There isnt a big pressure differential, so the vapors move out slowly. However, when its on the intake its being sucked out by lower than ambient pressures (since the engine's sucking in air) and the crankcase is being ventilated better. Why this seems to affect performance... I dont know/remember.:ermm: I read something about it a while ago, but I cant remember it right now.

Yep. :rambo:

That hose goes from your crankcase to your intake so that your intake can provide vacuum to clear out your crankcase of any oil vapors and whatnot before they can settle and become deposits. These are then safely burned off in your engine.

Now, if you're really concerned about that tiny bit of hot air which recirculates to your engine under vacuum, then you can purchase a catch can system which looks something like this:

And serves to filter all the nasty crap out before the air proceeds on to your intake. However, running without a vacuum source (IE just slapping a breather filter on the fitting) is pretty crappy for your engine, and frankly not worth the 1/10th of a horsepower you may gain.
