Default Who wants what camshaft.... your help is appreciated.

Hi guys,

I am currently talking to Australia's premier camshaft manufacturer, Tighe Cams, about a new range of performance billet camshafts for the range of Hyundai models. This manufacturer previously supplied HVE with their billet camshafts, however for reasons that I do not know there were 'supply problems' which meant that HVE was not promotings these camshafts. WHatever the reason/s I am not concerned, and have been able to build a good relationship to ensure that I am getting off on the right foot to ensure a reliable supply.

Within a week or two, I should have prices and specifications for camshafts for the X3 Excel 1.5 SOHC & DOHC, J2 Lantra/RD & RD2 Coupe/Tiburon in 1.8 and 2.0 litre. These camshafts will be the same specification as ordered by HVE Motorsport.

I am wondering what kind of demand their is for the newer model Hyundais, primarily those with XD Elantras, GK Tiburons, and EF Sonatas. If you are SERIOUS about considering a set of aftermarket camshafts, could you please drop me an email at info@performancestylingcentre.com.au to let me know. Could you please include the following information for me:
- model of Hyundai
- month and year of manufacture
- engine capacity
- exhaust specs (4-1 or 4-2-1 extractors, diametre of cat back system)
- intake mods (cold air intakes, modified throttle body, etc)
- any head work or change in compression ratio
- RON of fuel being used
- transmission - auto or manual
- intended vehicle use - every day driver, racing, 1/4 mile drag,
- your preference for more midrange torque, or top end power
- normally aspirated, turbo, supercharged, or NOS
- your target power increase over standard with all modifications
- price you would expect to pay (please be realistic)

This information will bhelp me in my discussions with Tighe Cams to help develop new cams for cars where there is a genuine demand.

Thanks for your help and input.

Cheers

metal intake pipe with pod style airfilter
No compression or change to the head
98 RON Shell optimax
Manual transmission
every day driver, but fuel consumption not a big problem
top end power

2001 Hyundai Accent GS (LC Chassis)

1.6L DOHC AlphaIII

4-1 header, 2" exhuast with hi flow cat, 53-55mm TB, extrude honed IM, short ram style intake or HVE CAI, headwork similar to RPW's stage2 http://www.rpw.com.au/New%20Website/...shicylhead.htm

93 octane (US)

Manual tranny

Normally aspirated

US$500-1000

This is for an daily driven car, but races on weekends in both 1/4 mile and autoXing with the occasional track day.

Looking for mid to hi end gains (3750-6500rpm) and willing/wanting a lopey idle. Willing to lose some low end torque for top end power. Peak power gains expected to be 6-10whp, but with 15-20whp+ gain in the meat of the powerband (4000-5500rpm) over stock cams. I've seen this done with SR20DE cams so its not too far fetched of an idea.
