Default Catalytic Converter

On my car, the catalyic converter is located just under the exhaust manifold. So, if I were to put aftermarket headers on my car, I have to put a Cat. Conv. somewhere in the exhaust to make it legal? Some of the people around here that I've talked to said they took their cat. conv. right out and they got more power and much better fuel mileage. How about the oxygen sensor or whatever it is located down the exhaust piping a little way, if there were no cat conv. on the car, how would it effect that sensor and thus the engines computer?

I bought the SR4-2-1 header and it comes with the first O2 sensor bung in it,so extend your wires for the first one then have your cat put in and place the secound bung just past the cat.The hardest part is lengthing the wires for the O2 sensors.

The thing under the floor, in the middle of the car is a resonator. The thing under the tranny is a second cat (the first one is between the radiator and engine block).

Now I get it. If I remove a cat or two, my guess is the "check engine light" will come on. Any way around this? What would happen if I removed the second cat?

Cat #2 is located behind the second o2 sensor, as suck you wont get a CEL by removing it.

According to the exhaust diagram for my car, the 2nd oxygen sensor is located just past the 2nd cat. Schitt.
