Default decrease in exhaust volume

a couple of days ago i started up my car and went for a drive and noticed my exhaust was much quieter than usual. i figured after it warmed up a bit more it might get as loud as usual. but it didnt. now 3 days later its the same way. still quiet. today as i was driving i could hear the intake over the exhaust which i havent heard since i put the system on. i have the kore cat back system, which wasnt quiet at all. i dont know what the deal is. any help would be appreciated. thanx

If the exhaust is getting mroe and more quiet it means there is a restriction in the exhaust some where. This could be a muffler more-or-less falling apart, or it could be your catalytic converter getting clogged. Either one is very possible, depending on how you drive.

im guessing . . . and hoping its not the muffler falling apart, cause the system was just put on in november. and it was like the night before it was sounding as loud as usual and then the next day, it was really really quiet.

How about he doesnt eliminate his car's emissions equip, causing a CEL and a good chance for hefty fines?

My KORE cat-back got quieter over the last week since its been installed. Maybe something crawled up there/was shoved up there? Take a flashlight and check... Did you notice a power loss?

ANy chance that you would have gotten the muffler wet at any point in time? Maybe you just got some bad gas as well. Did you recently change what octane you are using, I have noticed with my OBX B-3 muffler if i were to get it wet it will get quieter, within maybe 2-3 days it will sdtart to get louder, also Like someone else just said, maybe you cat is starting to show some signs of clogging, i had this problem with my #2 cat which i do believe the Kore cat back eliminates.

yeah, i only have the cat on the the exhaust manifold. when does that about to happen . . . wear on the cat? im just about to roll over to 30k. and nope, im using the same octane. but it could be bad gas. i just filled up today so we'll see what happens when the new stuff hits the lines.

It could be:
-bad/old plugs
-bad/old plug wires
-dirty fuel filter
-dirty air filter

BTW, if the muffler was falling apart, it would get louder. Also, you would be able to see it since the muffler hangs off the back of the car with the KORE cat-back.

No emissions laws or not, your car will still smell, sound, and run like ass w/o the cat, thanks to the CEL sending you into limp mode.
