Default Re: Notes on the XD cam from Professor Ko

I think 1.8 and 2.0 pistons are the same...
Maybe they change crankshaft and rods. The reason could be because the shorter stroke of 1.8 engine makes that engine revs less stressed than 2.0 engine. I think is a good option if you want to make a very modified N/A engine.

List of things to make a very good N/A Hyundai Beta engine:
1.8 bottom (more revs)
Very high cams from 300º to ??? (also more revs)
Mechanical lifters and stronger springs (essential for high revs)
Forged pistons (ratio depends of gasoline used to avoid detonation, 12:0 is a good ratio)
Rods (material depends of compression ratio, the bigger it is stronger the rods)
Balanced crankshaft and lighter flyweel
Quad throttle body with bigger injectors (330cc??)
Good fuel pump and pressure regulator.
Cylinder head work (big problem in all Beta engines)
Stand alone ECU and other ignitio stuff
And... a lot of money/time to spend. uzzled:

What do you think of this??
A little bit utopic, isn't it?
But i believe that it is worth just to hear how they sounds. :

this 1.8 engine, what year vehicles have this in it? My neighbour just wrote off his older style elantra, nothing major just bent the frame in the rear, and I could take things from him if need be.

Woohoo got the headers (100dollars) installed and like someone mentioned pull is much smoother and faster after 4500rpm and my cutoff moved from 6500 to 7500 which is pretty nifty. Bought a second hand intake camshaft and ECU from a 1997 1.8L elantra, looking forward to get that installed. (got the ecu and camshaft for under 115$)

hey there! as i saw you posted a few answers about custom camshafts for beta 1 , i decided to ask you a few questions.
i have a 2.0 beta 1 accent, and have just upgraded it with the 1.8 beta intake camshaft. is this it? is this camshaft the best you can put in for the small money it's worth, or would I gain a lot more with a custom made camshaft? what is the power gain with 1.8 camshaft in comparison to old 2.0 one, and what would /could be the gain with a custom one?
thank you for all your answers!!
