Re: Installing AEM on Rev. A Tibs and '96-'97 Elantras.
So if you removed the canister and just connected the hoses together it will still pass emissions? Or would you have to relocate the canister for it to pass emissions?

This canister doesn't affect tail pipe emissions. It's purpose is to contain gas tank gas vapor emissions, and then burn them in the engine. No state in the USA (not even cali) checks for this. If you have a CEL, that indicates a bad purge valve on the system, some states will read that and fail you, but other than that...you're golden.

Re: Installing AEM on Rev. A Tibs and '96-'97 Elantras.
On this subject I have a 2000 Elantra and I would like to add a dual exhaust setup but the evap can is in the way in the back on the drivers side. So I can't put a muffler there unless it's removed or moved. I was advised to take it in to a mechanic and have it relocated somewhere else. But, from what I'm reading here even though it's illegal I can safely remove the evap can and still have the car run properly? To remove the evap can the process just involes re-routing the cables as mentioned above, right? If so I'm golden for the dual exhaust. Thanks for the help guys.
