Default MHP Intake

This one goes out to all the old schoolers who remember MHPTunnig. When i first got my 2K Tiburon I got the MHP Intake I believe that was the only one available at the time. I felt a pretty good power increase it’s been 3 years now and i felt like getting a new intake. So, I went with he AEM for my Tib and now i feel like i have lost some power. I feel like the MHP one had a better response then the AEM. I've only had the AEM on my car for a week and i feel a little power loss from the AEM compared to the MHP. So now i come to a conclusion did i do something wrong in the install?? I did reset the ECU. I'm not sure what to do but I’m starting to think i might sell my AEM intake and put back the MHP. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

AEM modeled their intake from MHP's, if I remember correctly (They did the same for the Mazda MP3)

MHP's intakes is one of the best I have seen (no I'm not being biased here...)
I don't know about actualy dyno numbers, but from everyone I have talked to and my own experience it *feels* like it gets the best response from the car. I gained between .2 and .4 seconds in the 1/8 with just that intake

Not trying to bash AEM but I think the location of the wheel well is somewhat restrictive. In my personal opinion I think that the MHP was in a better location enabling it to pull more and cooler air than in a stuffy wheel well. I still like AEM, don't get me wrong but I think Craig and MHP had a great idea especially if you use it with the AEM bypass valve to prevent hydrolocking
Again that is just my opinion.

Greg was the guy that invented the intake at MHPTuning...I believe he owned the place.

Sometimes power loss or gain is only in your head. The good ole fasion "butt dyno" is not the best way to measure power. If you realy want to know what is better, you neen to sit the car on a dyno. Unfortunately with intakes, it is impossible to simulate the amount of air that flows through while driving without setting the car in a wind tunnel.

As far as track testing, .2 sec could be gained from something as simple as better weather or altitude (if at a different track). It could also be determined by the track conditions for that day or even if you ate your bowl of Wheaties that morning. So again, that is not a very good way to test.

Another option would be to use a g-tech. They are suposedly fairly accurate but I still wouldn't lay too much stock in it.
