Default read my exhaust post..

ok my exhaust is driving me insane...it sounds like marbles in a tin can.

my exhaust consist of..(in order)...4-1 headers---flexpipe----carsound highflow catalytic converter---2 1/4 piping----turbo muffler---and it sounds like crap...i hate it...

i know its not the muffler because ive changed that out and it did nothing....

i think it could be coming from my cat. it is installed at kindoff an angle and the cat and the flex pipe zigzag and then then piping is straight.....if anyone tells me what to do to fix this crap sound i will be sooo happy.

thank you

i'm really not sure how to fix it. I know that my exhaust is too loud... Maybe you can install a resonator im between the cat and muffler. That should quiet things down a bit.

its crush bent and the muffler is an actuall muffler no fancy stupid crap.

theres no leaks i checked alot of times but. i do have this heat laseer gun thing that tells you the temperature of things that you point it to and the pipe going into the cat is hotter than the cat and the pipe after. not like a few degrees. its like 30-70 degrees cooler so thats why i thought it was the cat. ill give some one 50 bucks to solve this crap its so bad.

Well, the cat takes a LOT of heat to get rid of the nasty crap in the emissions so thats not totally unexpected. Do you have any heat sheilds under the car that may be loose? My capri had the same friggin rattle, i believe it was either something loose inside the cat or one of the heat shields.

Is you header straped tight to the chassi under the engine just before the cat. Like the stock mnifold was. when I installed my header and exhaust it wasn't strapped on tight and it would vibrate making an irrtating noise. I got a couple of clamps and secured it, now I don't have that problem anymore. It the only thin I can think of.

help that helps.

Hmm marbles in a tin can, belt the cat and see if it sounds like stuff is loose in it, when cold so you dont get burnt, same with the muffler, grab the pipe and give it a shove, see if it hits something as when they get hot they move. Other than that, did someone actually put marbles in your muffler. Ive got something loose in my exhaust as its getting old and its sounds crap at about 2700rpm, sorta like loose stones flying about inside it.
