Default Unichip.....A Good Alternative

Hi everyone

I finally decided today that I was going to replace my SAFC2 with a Unichip which will give me A/F and Ignition control. I was very suprised that after tuning (7 hours worth of it plus installation), the final result was a net gain of 17WHP bring my tiny engine to 129WHP.....

The Unichip has a workable launch controller which comes with a small additional fee to the unit itself. For those who is going to force induce their Hyundai, Unichip also comes with a turbo thingy add-on.......

Seriously worth the consideration over the SAFC........

PS: After 3 trys with the launch controller (set at 4800rpms) I could smell my stock clutch burning.....perhaps it maybe time to upgrade it in a couple of month's time....has anyone experience this with performance clutch (the burning smell that is)?

The Biggest difference is that the S-AFC doesn't have timing control. The unichip should allow you more control over timing as well as fule. The s-afc is limited to 12 (S-AFCII) points RPM and averages everything inbetween.

The S-AFC is a good easy to use unit for N/A cars. I plan go get an MSD ignition, allowing for timing controll as wel as giving me a high quality ingition.

I assume the unichip will be more expensive and a more difficult install. Also you have to check to see if there is a place that can install and tune it in you area.

I believe that it.

Hi Jonblaze68

As what RojasTKD has mentioned, while the SAFC2 is good for A/F ratio it cannot adjust ignition timing. Without the ability to control ignition timing, almost half the battle is already loss.....My stock power without any modification is 93WHP, with all my mods and an SAFC2, I got 112WHP, by changing the SAFC2 to a Unichip I am landing at 129WHP.....The reason that I posted this thread is to let everyone know that there is an effective alternative to the SAFC, Greddy E-Manage, and to a certain percentage the MSD D2.....now I have a very expensive Throttle Percentage and Volt Meter.

Hi RojasTKD

I paid a total of USD500 including 2 dyno runs and installation for the unichip plus launch control. The best part of unichip is that there is a wire diagram from the manufacturer so installing was pretty fast.

WOW... good deal.

how does timing effect you hp output?

I already have an S-AFCII (to be installed) and was planninf on getting an MSD in several months. That should be good right?

Hi RojasTKD

With the ability to adjust ignition timing, I actually gain another 12 to 15WHP with all my mods removing the SAFC2.......Yours should be fine just that tuning will be alittle more tedious with two hardware component....but at least you get better sparking capability
