Default Question on exhaust upgrade

I want to upgrade the exhaust for my Accent 1.5 manual. I don't intend to change the stock header because of the need to remove the cat. So my question is should I do the following:

1. Change to 2 inch piping
2. Change the center box to a sport resonator (to retain some back pressure)
3. Change the muffler to a straight through type

What I'm trying to achieve here is for better high-end torque without losing too much on the low-end torque. I'm not sure about point 2. Is it necessary to change the center box? Is the stock center box a already a straight through type?

Default Re: Question on exhaust upgrade

sounds like a good setup to me.

try it without the resonator and if its to loud for your likeings then put one in....scince your going with 2 inch then you dont have to worry so much about loosing to much back pressure.

if you want my opinion, save your money until you have enough to buy from your headers on back, because chances are, you'll be satisfied with the sound until you put aftermarket headers on. then you only have one cat and the sound is considerably louder.
it your choice, but i think you will end up spending more than you thought if you go one step at a time.
