p&p depends on who does it. expect around 5-10hp and 5-8hp from im.

now combined, i would say maybe 10-13hp.
you might want to save money depending on which route you want to go. if you go f.i., don't do it, but if you want n/a with nitrous or something like that, do the p&p. look into high compression pistons and high lift cams. then do a 3 or 5 angle valve job and you should be running close to 150 whp w/o nitrous. stick a nice 75 shot and you can be running 200hp on a car that weighs very little.

I have done both of these, and actually am still waiting to see a really good gain. With both I only dynoed a 9hp gain. This is cuz after I did it, along with some other goodies I did to my engine, I started to run really lean! Obviously this was because it was breathing better and the ECM didn't handle the extra air very well. I run about 14.8 A/F ratio around 4000rpm, and I should be around 12.5. Fortunetly I have justed purchased the SAFC II and am installing it tomorrow. I will let you all know how it goes. I did feel a gain from doing these mods though....and from tuning my SAFC, I sure I can get at least another 10-15hp out of it at least. BTW....I do have an extra cylinder head for sale if interested. Its from my first gen tibby.

these guys have accents dude. you won't see as much of a gain as ^ did with his p&p, but i do recommend you get the s-afc to control fuel. when i did my tb and im 61mm change-out, i noticed gain, but im also probably running real close to a lean a/f ratio. have yet to find out tho. :nervous:
anyway, its a good way to go if you want n/a power plus nitrous.

RPW can get 15% from a good head job alone since the flow is so weak from the factory. If you don't believe me check this...

RPW Ported and Polished Cyl Heads

RPW has been supplying exchange ported and polished cylinder heads world wide for a long time now. We don't get into sprouting lots of nonsense about 50% gains and doing this special work that no one else knows about. We do what is needed, the right way with a very competitive price. And by being able to offer exchange worked cylinder heads, this means your car does not have to be disabled whilst someone does your cylinder head.

All of the Hyundai heads respond extremely well to porting and polishing work. You will get an approximate 15% gain over standard with a worked cylinder head. This improvement is quantified with other work around the motor as always. Also where you purchase some RPW camshafts and valve springs at the same time, these are fitted labour free to the cylinder head at the same time. We also do give discounts where a package of Cyl head, camshaft, valve springs and cam gear are purchased together (Note cannot be used in conjunction with existing club discounts. Which ever provides the greatest discount will be automatically applied)

The Hyundai DOHC cylinder heads respond better than other model cars, for to be honest, they have some very weak and inefficient designs from the factory and as such, can be radically improved upon with a little bit of money. RPW recommends going to stage 2 porting where possible to maximise the breathing of this cylinder head.

Like all our work we have broken the heads into three levels of performance.

RPW Stage 1 ported and polished heads - Cylinder head serviced with valves back cut and seats 3 angle cut, surface ground, acid dipped and pressure tested. Porting work done on all ports (Especially the restricted intakes) Valves 3 angle back cut and fitted with K liners on the exhaust, K liners fitted on intakes only if necessary. Valve springs fitted with rocker gear and camshaft. Supplied with new exhaust manifold studs.

RPW Stage 2 ported and polished heads - Cylinder heads worked as per stage 1 above, with the addition of more extensive porting with more emphasis placed on flow, combustion chamber is polished and smoothed out to remove all square edges and possible hot spots.

RPW Stage 3 ported and polished heads - Cylinder heads are worked over with a flow bench for even more accurate porting and more extensive work placed upon port shapes. This is for very serious races as there would be only a 5% improvement over the stage 2 heads but its there if you have the money to chase the gains.

you can always do it yourself, you should if anything notice alittle smother throttle and alittle power, won't be much MAYBE 2whp and that'd be generous.
