Default Computer Question

Didn't really find any info on here relating to computer comprarasans(sp). I'm looking at possibly getting one of these Powerchips soldered into my ecu. It requires my 2k Elantra 2.0 Ecu. Would one out of a 96 Elantra 1.8 Ecu be the same? This is probably a dumb question because the internals of the engine are not the same? Correct?

How well would this Powerchip allow my Apexi S-Afc to work with the Ecu?
Thanks.

Hi Acid.....

For the ECU, it could be best that you find out from your Hyundai Distributor if the two ECUs from the different cars have the same parts number......if they are different, chances likely it may not be compatable swap.

As for the Powerchip, are you referring to the ones from Australia?......If you are, the chip will be programmed by the installer for fuel and ignition map......and the SAFC is not needed anymore......best if your check with Powerchip.

Ahh...Well this would be in the N/A section soooo...After this got tuned (Yes I belive in Australia) I would be eventually, getting my car under boost. Would the safc still be useless because I would plan on getting larger injectors even with this Powerchip? Thanks.

Just curious as to what your powerchip can regulate that the safc cannot.

after a certain amount of boost, the powerchip and s-afc become useless. both can only control up to a certain amount of fuel. not to mention the maf sensor becomes useless after 250hp. its not just the ecu that has limitations. its the peripherial parts that have certain limits. ie, maf, fuel injectors, and fuel pump.

the powerchip is useless in the states from what i've heard. this is because its hard to find anything over 93 octane. for some reason if you install this chip you need to run HIGH octane.

Basically, what I'm wondering is, since I already have the safc, but it is untuned, but soon to be tuned, would this Powerchip ecu thing be a waste of money since I have the safc to control both underboost and when not under boost? Basically, this ecu thing is the same thing as the safc but not changable unless sent back in correct? So I don't need this?

ehh boost?? the S-AFC has nothing to do with controlling boost. it just leans out your engine.... it has nothing to do with the timing either. SOOOOOOOO if you want to get most out of a piggyback computer get an SMT-6 or GReddy e-manage thing whatever it is because they can also control the ignition... :|

Powerchips in the U.S. are tuned for 91 or 93 octane.
