Hi Red Devil,

Yes, it can be done. I have a 52mm TB on my S-Coupe turbo. A few things needed to be done tho...

- the TB is based on an X3 Excel/Accent 1.5 DOHC TB (48mm) which was bored out to 52mm.
- an 8mm spacer is used to move it away from the plenum chamber a bit so the throttle arm does not hit
- the water pipe lines blocked off, and thread tapped so that they can hold the thtorrle guide bracket
- breather feed pre-butterfly blocked off
- cable guide bracket modified to fit
- throttle arm mechanism changed so that it opens the opposite direction (clockwise when looking from the throttle arm, whereas most other Hyundais open anti-clockwise)

I guess the two easiest things are that the Excel DOHC TB bolts right on up to the plenum, and the inlet pipe into the X3 Excel DOHC TB is the same size as the S-Coupe TB, so no changed are needed. The Lantra/Coupe/Tiburon TB has the 4 mounting bolts too far apart, and the inlet pipe into the TB is larger.

The good news is I am working on a 48/52mm Tb kits with all the work done already for the S-Coupe turbo owners. Should be ready in a few weeks. Price should be around A$300 for 48mm, and A$350 for the 52mm model.

Cheers

The mounting bolts for the Alpha series engines in the X3 Excel/Accent SOHC, X3 Excel/Accent DOHC and S-Coupe are all 54mm apart horizontally, and 60mm apart vertically.

The mounting bolts for the Beta engines in the J2 Lantra/Elantra and RD/RD2 Coupe/Tiburon are are 64mm apart horizontally, and 64mm apart vertically.

Cheers

Hi Barman

Over here, the 1.5 SOHC (upto Dec 1997) came with 41mm standard, and the 1.5 DOHC (Jan 1998 onwards) came with 48mm. Not sure what the X3 Accent GT came with, as we never got that model here

I am trying to chase down a head from that model in Korea at the moment, as it will apparently bolt straight upto my S-Coupe engine. (*fingers crossed*)

Cheers
