Default Installing my A/F guage...

Hey all,

I just picked up my RActive A/F guage at my local shop, and I'm going to install it either tonight or tomorrow. Is there anything special I should know before I attempt this? Any problems or things I need that aren't included with the guage itself?

Thanks!

Yea, sending unit is the black wire. And, splice into it after the wire harness.

I don't understand what you mean.
I'll assume I tap into the 02 sensor right on my header.
I tap into the black wire, but what is this about "after the harness"?

Sorry, I'm not good with this stuff.

Hmm, I'm not too good at explaining things but I'll try...

Your o2 sensor should have 4 wires attached to it, 2 white, 1 grey, and 1 black. If you follow the wires attached to the sensor, you should find a 4 prong wire harness. What you want to do is figure out which prong the black wire is attached to. Then tap into the wire on the opposite side of the prong.

Hope this helps.

It's a tad late for me to go out and see for sure, but I think I know what you're talking about now. I think what you mean is I'm going to tap into the wire opposite the black wire AFTER the harness. This would be the wire that's closer to the actual O2 sensor.

Thanks, I appreciate the help!

You want to tap the wire on the ECU side of the plug. This way, if you ever have to replace the O2 sensor, you won't have to re-do the gauge wiring.

Perfectly practical advice.

well, i did all the same things over and over again and it never worked..it fluctuated in one spot and whenever i turned something else on (A/C), it would flux lower in the red....it would just stay alway in one sport and flux one or 2 lights away...it sucked.....i took it back

check your ground wire. I grounded mine to the driver's seat bolt. Make sure to clean it really good. Get in there with a screwdriver and then use a stiff wire brush to clean it up. That should fix your problem.
