Default DIY port matching?

if i have a dremel and a couple hours time...can i do my own port matching of the intake manifold? is it hard to do? basically i'm thinking if i take off the manifold (how hard is that?) can i use a marker to outline where to bore to and start in with the dremel? or maybe i dont need to take it off, can stuff it with a towel so no shards get in then dremel away?? :ermm:

I am about to do this myself. I am only doing the openeing to the intake/surge tank so it matchs my BBTB. Yes you can do it with a Dremel. It won't be pretty but it can be done. I, and I'm sure others, would reccomend you take off the manifold to play it safe.

I saw the same thing done on a Focus on TV. Just stuff some shop towels in it if you don't take it off and Dremel away! It might not be pretty, but it works.

Please don't use a dremel on this. If your going to do it, do it right. Take it off your car it isn't that hard. I took mine off and swapped another ported out one that I had in my garage in under an hour, but I've also taken my manifold off about 20 times. Just take your time on it and don't smoke when you have to remove the injectors and fuel rail lines..... Shoving a towel down in there is only going to bring bad news. Your not going to fully be able to see every small shaving to get it out. Take it off and get the right bits for it and use an air dye. I have access to these things, but if you don't bring it to a pro. They'll do a much better job than a dremmel will.
