well anytime you reduce heat in the engine its going to get your some HP back. I was just wondering how effective these were so its not really a matter of needing one to keep my engine frommessing it but more like i need it because i want to get some of the HP loss and play it safe when im spraying

thats not entirely true,
if you remove too much heat from the oil,
it will go below its specified operating temperature.
i hear anything below 170F can cause damage, one of the reasons
not to fang it while its cold.

Hello bryfx

Even with a oil cooler, it may not be possible to cool the engine oil till the oil is under its specific working temperature....The big concern is to get the right size so that there is no loss of oil pressure.

The correct size oil cooler (front-mounted) for a 1.5 to 2-litre engine is 13 rows high x something close to 235 mm. (9.25") wide. A good hose-bore to use is 12mm. (1/2").

An excellent, world-class supplier of oil coolers, sandwich plates, accessories & model-specific kits, can be found by typing MOCAL into Google.
I hope this is helpful, as one of these has reduced my cruising,in-sump (pan) oil temperature, from 125C. to 80C..

Nick.

You can also add a an oil thermostat to the mix.. it will allow oil into the cooler when it gets too warm and cut it off once it cools.

I have an Oil cooler installed in my Tiburon and it really didnt help in Temps.Im still running Extremely Hot.My oil cooler ONLY cooled it down by 5-10 degress lower.Im still running temps at 240 under hard conditions!
In my case its an indication that i need a bigger Rad then my Temps will drop to operating Tempertures!
