Default What can I expect from DYNO Tuning my SAFC???

Well this is my new baby, and hopefully is arriving today, (THANKS Onpol )...

and just for background, I'll include what it's meant to do from APEXI directly:

quote:
Modifies air-flow meter signal (pressure signal in some vehicles) to optimize fuel-air ratio; Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD).
The second-generation S-AFC is a fuel computer that adjusts fuel/air ratio by modifying the air-flow meter/MAP sensor signal. The S-AFC features a user-definable, eight-point, adjustable fuel curve that can be set in 500 RPM increments. The range of fuel adjustment is +/- 50% at each of the user-defined setting points. On hot-wire vehicles, the Deceleration Air Flow Correction function is capable of curing the erratic idle and stall problems associated with open-atmosphere blow-off valves on hot-wire air-flow meter systems. The S-AFC is capable of monitoring and replaying the following data channels in Numerical, Analog Meter and Graph displays: Intake Manifold Vacuum/Boost Pressure, Air Flow Capacity, Intake Manifold Pressure, Karmann Frequency, Engine RPM, Throttle Position, and Air Flow Correction %.

MY QUESTION TO YOU GUYS IS:???

what am I looking at as far as WHP GAIN, after I have it tuned properly??? as you know I'm running rich at the moment, since I have fully installed my I/H/E set-up and I really really need to fix it, lol...

The dyno tuning will run me $150.00 bux, but they claim that they can just install it, and do a basic set-up at the same time of install with no charge, so I ask you, what is a basic set-up??? from reading other posts, I think this is just turn the POWER on and watch the gauges... lol I have also purchased my A/F Phantom Gauge and I'll let you know how nice that looks, since I'm painting my gauge pod to match my dash...

Well this means PHASE II of my tibby is almost complete, and PHASE III will begine withing 6 months... wwwwooooooohhhhooooo, just for your info, I will do the dyno tuning no matter what, but I would still like to know what I can expect, 1-2 whp??? or much much more???

Bat, I am planning to do the same mods as you with the only difference that I am getting SR 4-1 headers and a big bore throttle body. My question is, is it very important to get the S-AFC or can I live with out it for awhile?

i would have to say it's very important, I'm running very rich now, and you will prolly be a little more than me, since you're gonna have your TB and going with 4-1 headers...

Am going to buy my stuff before winter starts and I should have everything before winter ends.
Is there anything else I'll need or is the
S-AFC good for what am getting.

Bat your not running as rich as I am lol. I need a Safc but it will conflict with the nitrous so I'll have to see.

I thought Cheuk on FX said that they shouldn't compete for fuel, if tuned right. When I was consiering NO2, I had this same fear. He didn't elaborate, though, so I'm not sure . . .

Bat,
Any news on the tuning? How'd it go and what were the HP gains?
