I had my SR 4-2-1 wrapped and it reduced the heat alot, I had it that way for about two years and when I took the header out I could see no damage to it from the heat wrap.
either will work.. ceramic coating costs more but looks MUCH better.. wrapping adds a "race" look to the engine bay. Either one will keep the engine compartment much cooler.

I wrapped mine when it was out of the car and it came out real good, fist thing I did was soak the wrap in water for a few hours then I just wrapped it around all the tubes as tight as I could and clamped it wherever it needed to be. after your done the wrap will dry out and as it dries it shrinks a little making it even tighter. When it is completely dry get some of the sealer paint for it and spray it up with a few good coats and then its all done.

i've heard about people coating the header in high temp silicon before heat wrapping as well, any thoughts on this?

Actually, you spray that on after the wrap. It makes the wrap shed water instead of soaking it up.

Umm when u first start up your car, with the fresh wrap, it will smoke a bit,
and toast a bit, but it never cacthes fire or any of that, it just kinda gets
burned in, after that there's no problem, there might be a slight smell for a few days.
