Hi I just got my car, its a elantra 1.6 1994 and I bought it for 300$. Problem is that i have to put a new cylinder head and i was wondering if i could find another type of engine for about a few dollar more. I'd also like to know if i can do some pretty cheap mod on the 1.6 to make it go a little faster. I'm 17 and know a little about mechanic and performance, that means i'm probably ignorant and stupid, so tell me

4g63t from a DSM. its a 2.0 L turboed motor.. = fast

DSM = Older mitsubishis..the old TALON TSI and Eclipses and i even think lasers..the 4G63 swap is popular with the J1 Elantra..(93-95) go for it... its well worth the money! check out Hyundai4G63T s car

damn you two both beat me to it. ufortuneately if oyu have the 1.6 you dont have the GLS. so you would need a 4g63t engine and a ECU from a 1.8 or GLS elantra from 93-95. But yes that is my current project

you'll also need a side mount intercooler, piping and a BOV to go along with it.
