Default Can I Have A Lightened Flywheel And Still Run A Good Sound System?

I read that when installing a lightweight underdrive pulley, you gain power that was lost when the engine turned the much heavier stock pulley wheel. I also read that when having one installed it is impossible to run a high end stereo system at the same time as the alternator is weakened when idleing and can only support a sound system upto round abouts 500W.... please correct me if i'm wrong guys. I will be installing a high end stereo system of round abouts 1000W RMS soon and im still interested in this mod as a little powerboost (i also read that its results are doubled when added to a turboed application). Is there a way to get around this problem by maybe getting a larger alternator installed or something? I own a 99 hyundai excel twincam by the way...

I don't think you should have a problem runnin both flywheel and the system.. i think the reason the pulleys make it worse it because theres usually less mass and circumference to turn. so u shouldn't have a problem..

The problem is not mass related. The UD pulley slows down the alternator. This could be a problem with a decent sized amp in the car. A lightweight flywheel will have absolutely no effect on the alternator.

You are asking about an underdrive pully. Not a flywheel. A Flywheel is part of your transmission and has nothing to do with how your stereo will run. Maybe you should correct the topic title before you get some people making noob coments.

the only way you could hurt a sound system with a lightened flywheel is through repeated stalling. The lighter flywheel will take time to get used to when pulling from a stop..

Your title is about a lightened flywheel where your question is about a UD pulley.
The flywheel, won't hurt your stereo but it is possible that a UD pulley can effect the alternators charging capacity.
