Default ECU

So... does the outrageously expensive aftermarket ECU remove the top speed limiter on a 2002 Elantra?

Also, I heard the check engine light comes on if you remove the speed limter (not the ECU upgrade), does it come on past the limited speed or is it on all the time?

Mike222002,

You might get better response to your question if you let somebody know what the hell kind of ecu you're talking about. 40 something views and no response means you're being pretty damn vague.

The is an aftermarket computer upgrade for 2001 and 2002 Elantras. It seems to be more expensive than it it worth. So my question is... has anyone bought this ECU and does it remove the speed limiter. Also, to anyone that has removed the speed limiter (not the rev limter) I heard the check engine light comes on. Does the light come one steady or does it only turn on if you go past the original the limited speed?

OK... I thought at least the first sentence of my original question was preetty clear? Oh well ,oerhaps no one knows etc... I have never seen more than one ECU upgrade and I can't find it now anyway!!
