I have the 2001 2.0 Elantra GT cam in my 97 Tib FX. I think that cam might work in your Elantra. I noticed a hell of a difference with the GT cam. Check it out and see if you can put the GT cam in, it's worth the money.

Go to kore-motorsports.com and ask them in their forum

To answer your question, the 1.8L cam is the stock 1.8L cam that came in your car. They sell it because it's more aggressive than the 2.0L cam. It's common for the 2.0L guys to use a 1.8L cam.

Yeah, you already have the 1.8 cam inside your car, in your case you would get the 2001 elantra GT cam, I did the same thing, very noticable power increase and it makes your car sound bad ass as well!

I have a 2001 Tiburon. Would I benefit from the 1.8 GT cam?
