Default 1.6 to 2.0 beta

Recently, I got a 1.6 , beta engine and I was wondering if I can make it a 2.0 one. I'm going to install 2.0 crank, 2.0 rods and 2.0 pistons. Can it be done?

I don't know if anyone here will know the answer to that question. Maybe though...

Do you know the bore and stroke of the 1.6l Beta? Does the head look similar or identical to the 2.0l?

The block is identical to the 1.8 and the 2.0. The bore x stroke is 77.4 x 85. As I dissasembled the block today, I can see that it can be overbored to 82mm to match the bore of the 1.8 and 2.0. My question here is this: Will the crankshaft-rods fit the block? It's like taking a 1.8 block and fitting 2.0 rods and crankshaft. Can this be done to the 1.8? If so, it can be done to the 1.6 as well.

You can change it. Only difference is in injectors (2.0 have larger) and ECU. Cluth is different but changeable between 2.0 and 1.6 (pressure plate is stronger in 2.0). Gearbox is shorter in 1.6 (same rpm is low speed on 1.6 gearbox compared 2.0 gearbox, so you will have better acceleration than stock 2.0). Headers are same and intake manifold too. So you can take out your 1.6 engine and put in 2.0 engine. All engine sensors are same. Cooling is same.

Block of 1.6 engine is totally indentical to 2.0 engine block. It has only enclosure (inset, inlay, pad, lining,....) with narrower perforation (boring, drilling.....) So I think it is easier remove whole engine againts replacing crank, rods and piston. Camshafts are different too so You will have to remove them too not only crank, rods and pistons

Actually I already have a 2.0 and I needed one more engine for toying with. Anyways, the block is in the machinery shop for overboring. As I checked out, the 1.6 can be transformed to 1.8 beta as the only difference is the piston bore. 77.5 (1.6) against 82mm (1.8). I already have stock 1.8 pistons and rods. The crankshaft is identical to the one the 1.8 uses. So , I'm making the engine from 1.6 to 1.8. That's a gift to my dad's Elantra
