I've had it on the road for about two weeks now, getting 24 MPG on the highway, and like 15 in the city! Terrible news!
The valve seals are worn badly: at 7K RPM smoke just FLIES out of it! For now I'm waiting on a spare head to get done porting, and a couple other little things (colder rate spark plugs, MSD 6T, Tach adapter and a milder cam - this one is too much) and eventually I'll pull the block and redo the piston rings (maybe bore it out to a 1.7L) but yeah we'll see how she runs on a milder cam and new valve seals.
Oh and I just converted it to electric fan!
