Default Engine/Car designations?

Is "X3" the trim level of a series of Accents (ala GL or GT)? Or is that a particular engine type?

Also, what years have what engines? I've heard mention of beta engines and delta engines? (They might be Tibs, I don't know, which is why I'm asking)

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

After I posted, I was poking around the "Hybrid" forum and found a nice sticky post will all the info I could ever want about engine names.
