Default Cruise

How hard is it to add cruise control to a 2002 Accent that currently doesn't have it installed? Would using the stock throttle body off a 2000 Elantra possibly bolt up for use of a cruise control cabel too?

Thanks.

Hyundai cruise control throttle bodies have an extra pully for the cruise control, so if it's there, then you just need everything else

I don't think my gf's Accent has that extra one on the throttle body, but I know I still have my stock one off my Elantra and it has that extra thing for the cruise control. Possibly that throttle body would fit on hers? Your talking about the pulley on the throttle body, like one has the cruse control line and the other is the accelerator line correct?

What else do I need besides that? I don't really know what all is involved? I know in older cars like my older 81 Malibu, that it ran off a vacume or something. But I think in our cars that was replaced with that pulley thing your talking about?

Default Re: Cruise

Cruise from another Hyundai would be really expensive to add - the parts alone are really expensive - when I fixed mine, there was a ton of electrical they had to go through to find a short (took them like 8 hours) and they had to replace my vaccum assist (or something like that, can't remember exactly what it was called) which cost around $500 just for the part

From what I have heard is that the aftermarket kits (that are advertised at Canadian Tire and places like that) are really crappy and more trouble than they are worth.

If cruise is really important to you, just sell your car and buy a different one that already has cruise - it would be a lot less hassle and probably cheaper too.
